Try
to enlighten the class on who Terri Schiavo is and how she relates to
the 5th and 14th amendment. Find two video sources that you think best
describe Terri Schiavo's case and give a short defense on why you feel
others should watch these videos. (Hint: Here is a chance to check out
a wiki to get a sense of what you'll be researching). I'm excited to

The case became so publicly know that it caused a large debate across the nation on one legal right to take there own life and how much goverment should if at all have the ability to interfere. The following videos cover the case with a bit more detail and also highlight some of the major points being debated.

A woman named Terri Schiavo suffered brain damage due to a lack of oxygen in the brain. As a result, she was in a vegetative state. Her husband wanted to pull the plug, however, her family did not. Terri Schiavo had also stated that she would not want to live had something like this occurred to her. This led to a legal court battle that would decide whether or not the hospital would pull the plug on her. This also led to a nationwide debate if it was the right thing to do in her case and if the government had the right to interfere. If people wanted to learn more about her and her case, I would encourage them to view the videos posted above.
Terri Schiavo was a women who collapsed in her hallway in St. Petersburg, Florida. Terri had been trying to keep her weigh down by mostly drinking fluids all day 10 to 15 glasses of iced tea. Doctors said Terri was suffering from hypokalmia (lack of potassium-drinking to much fluids-electrolyte imbalance). Terri later on was pronounced in vegetative state. The hospital that Terri resigned at did neurological, and speech therapy for 4 years. Nothing worked. So the husband Michael petition to remove Terri's feeding tube. Terri's parents refused! Michael claimed that Terri wouldn't want to be the condition she is in. Terri's parents insisted she is a Roman Catholic, it goes against her wishes to be starved to death......Which is kinda funny because Terri put her self in the vegetative state by pretty much starving her self, and drinking way to much fluids causing a electrolyte imbalance, hence why she collapsed in her hallway for no particular reason.......In 2003 Terri's feeding tube was removed for good. She wasn't coming back to life, and Teri's claims she wouldn't want to be in vegetative state! Here are some clips that explain Terri's case a bit more.

Terri schaivo was a female who had a rare disorder called bulliemia which eventually lead to her being in a coma and dying. The state of Florida was pushing to have her feeding tube removed since she was no longer incompetent. Her parents argued the state had no right in making a decision for her. The state shall not deprive a person of life liberty and property which was what the state of Florida was trying to do. The first website is a good one because it gives a good background information and same with the second one.

Terri Schiavo heart stopped and the oxygen wasn't enough to keep her brain live. The only function that her brain work is breathing. Then, her diagnosis was changed to vegetative state. After 4 years, her husband wanted to remove her feeding tube but her family (parents, brother, and sister) wanted to keep her alive. The case finally came to Washington DC. The last court decided to remove her feeding tube. She passed away two weeks later.
5th amendment: Neither Her family nor her husband had enough evidence to show Terri wanted to die or to live. Terri is not a criminal so she can't be accused for any guilty.
14th amendment: She wasn't protected by the civil liberties.
Terri Schiavo is a woman who suffered some brain damage and was in vegetative state. Her husband wanted her to rest in peace but her family refused to let them pull the plug on her. In this case i believe the court should have supported the husband because he was the one that was living with her and such so he knows how she was in her last days and if he made that decision its because he didn't want to continue to see her like that. Also she has said before the incident that if it came down to this case she would rather be unplugged so i figure they should follow her will. I guess no one would really know the final decision when the moment occurs.

Terri Schiavo is a woman who suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen during an earlier cardiac arrest back in the 1990's. The courts and family members were trying to decide weather or not to remove Terri's feeding tube keeping her alive. The case is best described through these two video links I have provided.

Terri Schiavo ties into the 5th and 14th amendment through her case in which her 4th amendment which is to be treated fairly and her 14th amendment right to life. My two video clips explain her case and how the 5th and 14th amendment tie with it.
DeleteTerri Schiavo in February 1990 loss oxygen for several minutes. Terri had severe brain damage the doctor said she had no thinking or awareness she was in a vegetation state the only thing she had was a functioning brain steam that was helping her breath. in 2003 Terri Schiavo husband and her parents were fighting in courts to end her life or keep her alive. in 1998 Terri husband Michael petitioned the courts to end her life and after being in the courts for several years and after 19 judges heard this case they agreed with her husband Michael and pull her feeding tube she lived for 13 more days then pasted away. The courts said there was evidence she wouldn't wanted to live like this.

Terri schiavo was a woman that was severly brain damaged due to lack of oxygen to the brain. her husband wanted to let her die. her parents wanted her to live even though she may not ever come out of her vegistated state, which was diagnosed by multiple Dr.s including indepentent ones. she was able to breath on her own but needed a feeding tube for food and water. fith amendment her husband thought that she would not want to live that way and that she should have the right to die. her parents however thought she would want to live and that she was at least partially awar of her serroundings. neather of them had concreat proof to what she did or would have wanted. there where arguments about her 14th amendment rights because she is a citizen she should have a right to not be denied food and water till death by starvation. the credibility of each side was also questionalble because both sides wanted money from a malpractice suit and her estate.
